Committee Activiy Report


1. Communication & Marketing Committee

  • Team

    • Vincent Dessureault, Laurence Côté, Ginny Moses, Jérémie Gauthier-Lacasse

  • Mandate

    • Make proposals related to the association's image and personality; ensure consistency in communications; manage social media.

  • Achievements (2023-2024)

    • New official logo

    • Survey (Mai 2024)

    • Website maintenance : Addition of safety and privacy policies

    • New committee : Membership/recruitement/privacy protection

  • Projects to come (2024-2025)

    • Renew the website'simage with the new logo

    • Use website to promote community

    • Develop and sale merchandise with help of local artists

    • Community management and newsletter distribution

  • Needs (2024-2025)

    • Content creators/artists (publications, blog articles, merchandise)

    • Designers/graphists for website


2. Habitat 67 Committee

  • Team

    • Chantale Cauchon, Mathieu Demers, Laurence Côté, and Marie-Ève Leblanc.

  • Mandate

    • Ensure the sustainability and maintenance of the H67 site, as well as fostering a positive atmosphere among surfers and with the surrounding neighborhood.

  • Achievements and Ongoing Projects

    • Communications and meetings with the city regarding trail maintenance and erosion protection.

    • Efforts to access training on safety and swiftwater rescue.

  • Needs (2024-2025)

    • Recruitment of 1 or 2 new members.


3. Vague à Guy Committee

  • Team

    • Ginny Moses, Dominique Pouliot, Chantale Cauchon, and Yuan Legault

  • Mandate

    • Our committee's mission is to ensure the sustainability and maintenance of the VAG site while fostering a positive atmosphere among surfers and with the surrounding neighborhood.

  • Achievements (2023-2024)

    • Mediation: Preparation of consultation tables

    • Communications: Proposals for concrete improvements to the VAG site

    • Survey: Conducted a survey with 140 respondents

    • Awareness: Writing of short articles on surfer etiquette and cohabitation with residents

  • Upcoming Projects (2024-2025):

    • Launch the consultation tables

    • Work with the city to implement suggested site improvements

    • Distribute educational materials

  • Needs (2024-2025)

    • Together, we can ensure that the VAG site remains a pleasant and respectful place for everyone. Thank you for your support and commitment!


4. Events Committee

    • Bring the community together and recruit new members

    • Preparation of Classique Vague à Guy (september 2024)


5. New Waves Committee


  • Team

    • Yuan Legault, Mathieu Demers, Louis-Philippe Beaudoin, Dominique Pouliot, Hugo Lavictoire, KSF (external to the Board)

  • Mandate

    • Identify potential sites for river waves

    • Obtain technical information and data

    • Secure funding for feasibility and environmental impact studies

  • Achievements (2023-2024):

    • Efforts with various municipalities and stakeholders

    • On-site measurements at Chenal Lemoyne at Parc Jean-Drapeau

    • Discussions with Eau Vive Québec and RSOG for a feasibility study

    • Meetings with Ville Sainte-Catherine and RécréoParc to evaluate the possibility of creating a wave

    • Elimination of certain potential sites due to water quality or technical feasibility concerns

  • Upcoming Projects (2024-2025):

    • Data collection at potential sites

    • Continued efforts with stakeholders

    • Feasibility study on the most promising sites

    • Study of additional sites
